Gun Manufacturers Can Now Be Sued at the State Level In California
(MAGANews.Org) – Governor Gavin Newsom announced California gun violence victims can now sue gun manufacturers – making it the first state to pass such a law.
Gov. Newsom took to Twitter to post a video saying,
“I just signed a bill that will allow victims of gun violence to sue the makers of these deadly weapons & hold them accountable.”
Gun manufacturers & distributors have been shielded from the mass destruction they cause for too long.

According to a release about the bill, Assembly Bill 1594 – now a new law – allows individuals, local governments, and the California Attorney General to pursue legal action against gun owners, manufacturers, and sellers.
Bill co-author and state Assemblymember Phil Ting of San Francisco said gun violence is the leading cause of death among kids and that there is no better argument for a more robust gun safety reform.
He praised Gov. Newsom for signing AB 1594, adding, “For far too long, the firearms industry has enjoyed federal immunity from civil lawsuits, providing no incentive to follow our laws. Hitting their bottom line may finally compel them to step up to reduce gun violence by preventing illegal sales and theft.”
The bill will also allow gun manufacturers and dealers to block firearms sales to anyone they deem to have “reasonable cause to believe is a substantial risk.”
According to the new bill, gun sellers and manufacturers must not sell firearms if a buyer is presumed to use the gun illegally or if the buyer plans to hurt themselves or others.
Newsom says this new law will hold the gun industry accountable when firearm products cause harm or injury.
The law allows gun manufacturers to be held accountable for other gun law violations such as false advertising, unfair competition, or deceptive acts or practices.
It sounds like another attempt to destroy the Second Amendment and make it more difficult for responsible gun owners to purchase firearms in the state of California.
