(MAGANews.org) – Jury selection for former President Donald Trump’s historic criminal trial began on Monday morning, kickstarting a two-week procedure.
The trial is the first criminal trial of a president in US history.
Democrat Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan District Attorney, accused Trump of forging paperwork to cover up a sex scandal and filed 34 charges against him. Trump might go to jail if found guilty.
Trump posted on Truth Social Monday:

When I walk into that courtroom, I know I will have the love of 200 million Americans behind me, and I will be FIGHTING for the FREEDOM of 325 MILLION AMERICANS! #maga pic.twitter.com/PjZwJQhuax— GreatLakesLady (@GreatlakesladyM) April 15, 2024
Throughout the trial, Trump is anticipated to spend significant time in court and may even take the stand. This is all while he is running for president. June may be the end of the trial.
Trump said that on Monday, the court case was election interference. “Why didn’t they bring this totally discredited lawsuit 7 years ago??? Election Interference!” Trump posted.
The New York Times reported specifics about the jury selection:
“The 12 jurors, once selected, will have to judge Mr. Cohen’s story themselves: He is expected to be the prosecution’s star witness, confronting a boss he once idolized and now despises.
The jury selection will be crucial for both sides. Prosecutors have some advantage, as the jury pool is drawn from Manhattan, one of the most Democratic counties in America. Mr. Trump’s team will be looking for red needles in a blue haystack.”
A broad gag order also applies to Trump. “I want to regain my voice. I am GLADDED with this crooked judge. Not compliant with the Constitution! I am not allowed to talk about them, but the other side is free to talk about me! Brutal Trial On Monday,” Trump posted.

According to reports, the gag order prohibits Trump from speaking publicly regarding the trial’s witnesses.
This includes attorneys other than Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) and “members of the court’s staff and the District Attorney’s staff, or… the family members of any counsel or staff member, if those statements are made with the intent to materially interfere with… counsel’s or staff’s work” on the case.
It includes potential jurors as well.
The case is New York v. Trump, New York Supreme Court for New York County No. 71543-23.
Do you believe this is a sham trial to stop President Trump from getting elected in November?
