(MAGANews.org) – Following the kickoff of his campaign on Wednesday, the Trump administration accused Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) of stealing the phrase “Great American Comeback” from the 45th president.
In his campaign video, DeSantis emphasized his desire “to lead our Great American Comeback,” which was also the tweet’s description.

The 45th President used those identical words in his third State of the Union speech, according to a statement from Trump’s campaign made hours later.
The campaign claimed in a statement distributed via email that Ron DeSantis’ “Great American Comeback,” lifted from President Donald J. Trump’s 2020 State of the Union speech, was used to declare his candidacy amidst a disastrous failure to launch.

Additionally, after introducing Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), the then-Speaker of the House, and Mike Pence, the vice president at the time, Trump used the term in his first sentence of the State of the Union address:
“Three years ago, we launched the great American comeback. Tonight, I stand before you to share the incredible results. Jobs are booming, incomes are soaring, poverty is plummeting, crime is falling, confidence is surging, and our country is thriving and highly respected again…
America’s enemies are on the run, America’s fortunes are on the rise, and America’s future is blazing bright.”
Before the State of the Union address, Trump hinted at the theme, as USA Today reported. During the 2020 presidential race, he released a commercial titled “Great American Comeback.”
The charge was made shortly after DeSantis announced his campaign during a Twitter Space with Elon Musk, the head of the social media network.
Extreme technical issues prevented the announcement from starting at first. After many minutes, a new Twitter Space was finally launched.
Trump’s staff criticized the DeSantis campaign for the publication’s issues.
The campaign said that the DeSantis communications team may have been too busy trying to put out the fires of their candidate’s announcement to formulate their own message.
DeSantis is now in a pickle after fellow candidate and former governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley (R) criticized him for “copying Trump” in everything from hand gestures to policies during an interview with Fox News’ Paul Steinhauser.

Haley told reporters:
“I’m just mentioning what everybody else is saying. I mean, you look at the fact, the way he speaks, the way his hand gestures are, the fact that he’s moved his policies.
Whether it’s Ukraine and Russia to entitlement reform – he’s done a total 180. All of it’s copying Trump. He needs to be his own person. He needs to get out there and say what he believes, what he thinks.
If he’s just going to be an echo for Trump, people will just vote for Trump.”
Steven Cheung, a spokesperson for the Trump campaign, charged DeSantis with “stealing” Trump’s position on the college accrediting system.

It appears Gov. DeSantis is off to a rocky start. And it’s only the beginning.
